Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie has engaged a World Bank delegation in discussions aimed at strengthening Ghana’s tourism, culture and creative arts sector.
During the meeting, Gomashie expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s continued support, while outlining key challenges confronting the sector. She highlighted infrastructure concerns at major national attractions, particularly the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, stressing the need for sustained investment to protect Ghana’s image and enhance visitor experience.
The minister noted that improving tourism facilities is critical to boosting arrivals, preserving cultural heritage and unlocking the sector’s full contribution to national development. She said addressing gaps in infrastructure and maintenance would help position Ghana as a competitive destination within the global tourism market.
The World Bank delegation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s tourism, culture and creative arts industries, describing tourism as a growing driver of job creation and youth empowerment across Africa. The team also shared insights from an ongoing global tourism study, which is expected to guide countries in strengthening competitiveness, resilience and long-term planning.
Both sides agreed on the importance of deeper collaboration to address infrastructure needs, build institutional capacity and leverage culture and creativity for inclusive economic growth. The discussions underscored a shared commitment to ensuring Ghana’s tourism and creative economy reaches its full potential through strategic partnerships and sustainable investments.
