The Greater Accra Region recruitment process into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is set to resume on Thursday, November 20.
The exercise was suspended following a tragic stampede on Wednesday, November 12.
Six potential recruits – all females – lost their lives while several got injured, taken to the 37 Military Hospital for medical care.
In a press statement issued on Monday, November 17, GAF says it has set up eight sub-centers in five locations for the resumption of the exercise.
At El Wak Sports Stadium, where the unfortunate fatal incident occurred, two centers will be set up.
Two centers each will also be set up at Nicholson Park in Burma Camp and the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Teshie.
Two will also be set up at the Air Force Base in Burma Camp and the Eastern Naval Command at Tema.
“All qualified applicants in batches of 600 persons will receive an SMS specifying their reporting dates, batches and designated areas,” the press statement signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, the Acting Director General for Public Relations, directed.
“They are also encouraged to check on the recruitment portal for updates.”
Applicants are advised not to proceed to the centers with their families and friends.
“Non-applicants will not be allowed entry to any of the centers.”
A new team has been constituted to oversee the exercise in the Region.
Commodore FA Nyarko takes over as Director General for Human Resources, Colonel F. Kusi-Darko will be in charge of Manpower while Colonel G.B. Eduah will be the Director for Information Technology.
