UFP founder sues Police Commander, four others for seizing his cars

The founder and leader of United Front Party (UFP), Nana Agyenim Boateng, has filed a suit against the Suame Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent  C.O. Lomotey, and four others for unlawful seizure of his two pick-up vehicles.

Nana Boateng who was disqualified in his bid to contest the 2016 presidential election, is alleging political persecution because he supported President  John Mahama in the presidential elections

“I am absolutely sure that I was victimized because I supported the presidential candidature of the former President, John Dramani Mahama, else how can the police together with invincible forces just storm my house and take my two vehicles claiming it’s for the State when they know I’ve not held any public office under the past administration,” he said.

The UFP leader is suing the police commander for defamation of character and unlawful entry into his property.

“We are living in a country of supremacy of rule of law but some people who should know better are not abiding by the law. How can the police just be ordered to go to someone’s premises and seize his asset in an illegal way,” he questioned.

Nana Agyenim Boateng said the police have defamed his character, hence, his decision to sue the Suame divisional police commander and the Ghana Police Service.

“I am aspiring to be the President of Ghana and very soon I will fulfill my presidential ambition. So I won’t allow any individual or group of persons to tarnish my hard earned reputation,” he fumed.

He is praying the court to declare as unlawful and unconstitutional, the conduct of the defendants in forcibly taking two Fiat fullback pick-up vehicles with registration numbers GM 1413–16 and GM 1842 – 16 from his possession.

Nana Boateng also wants the court to order the release of the vehicles and award general and special damages to him.
