There has been a downward review of fees and charges by the University of Ghana, Legon following a meeting held on Thursday, January 8.
The meeting, which had in attendance officials from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), was chaired by a Deputy Education Minister, Dr Clement Apaak.
A statement issued on Monday, January 12 reveals reduced fees and charges.
For instance, the Student Representative Council (SRC) Hostel Development Levy, which was GH¢300, has been reduced to GH¢150. The Telecel Data levy is also GH¢122, down from GH¢312, and has been made optional.
The GH¢100 charged for the 75th Anniversary will no longer be in force after the academic year.
“Please be informed that these fees and charges are specifically for only University of Ghana and cannot be applied by any Public Tertiary Institution in the country,” the statement warned.
The statement also announced a Fee Review Committee, said to be set up by the sector minister and to be chaired by Dr Apaak.
