Reports gathered by NewsfileGH indicate that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council has settled on veteran Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz as Head Coach of the Black Stars.
At a crunch meeting held on Friday, April 10, the Council is said to have settled on the former Real Madrid manager to lead Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The deal is expected to cover the tournament in North America with a long-term contract talks to begin per the performance of the team.
The Council is said to have chosen Queiroz from three candidates, all Portuguese – Fernando Santos and Paulo Bento are the other two.
Meanwhile, German tactician Winfried Schäfer has been asked to leave with the coming of Queiroz and his technical team.
Schäfer served as Technical Advisor to the Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo during the qualifiers.
He helped the team with wins over Central African Republic, Mauritania, Mali and Comoros.
