KOTOKO NEED TO IMPROVE AND FAST

When the referee whistled for the end of the game, a few shoulders were dropped. The players knew they had to deliver and they didn’t. It was hard to take for many of the players. A look to the VIP end of the stadium showed quite a number of the new management members clad in full Kotoko kit, looking on – not particularly happy.

But a draw was a fair result given how unsatisfactory Kotoko were in the game and how good Techiman Eleven Wonders held their own to grind out the result. As questions have begun to creep in in Kumasi, Techiman is hailing a hero. Coach Ignatius Osei Fosu has been the name on the lips of many football fans after that performance against Kotoko. He was pragmatic, his side kept the ball well and there were moments in the game where they looked menacing. He looks like a man who knows what he is doing and many will like to see more of him. As for Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu says they will get better with time.

SOGAKOPE STILL FORTRESS FOR WAFA

There are three constants in this world – death, taxes and WAFA winning a home game. Over the weekend, they further strengthened that point beating Kumasi King Faisal 4-3 at the Sogakope park. Albeit they only survived a late Faisal onslaught by the skin of their teeth, what mattered most was the 3 points and they got it on the board. For the academy, the blueprint is simple – Win at home, try away.

OLYMPICS GOOD POINT IN TARKWA

Before game one began, not many had Olympics on their books as one of the teams to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the first game. They took on Medeama at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa. Aplace where their record is nothing to write home about and carefully left with a point. Medeama’s Ali Ouattara had put the home side ahead in fine fashion and they were on their way to a good win before they were halted in their tracks by Michael Yeboah who scored in the 73rd minute of the game. Oly’s one point will get their confidence levels up going into the next game.

MANY DRAWS IN WEEK ONE

Draws were the biggest feature in the Ghana Premier league on Match day one. You look around draws everywhere. In Accra, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Cape Coast. Cape Coast provided drama of different flavor. Sharks had led for most parts of the game until they lost it at the very end to the Dwarfs who scored through goalkeeper Razak Issah. With the ball on the edge of the area, Issah curled a beautiful low ball into the net to give Dwarfs a vital point at home. The draws might just have given us a sense of what to expect in the coming matchdays. Drama and more drama.

Medeama 1-1 Great Olympics

Asante Kotoko 1-1 Eleven Wonders
