Six contestants are now in the running for the ultimate prize of a two-bedroom house in this year’s Mentor Reloaded reality show. Come Sunday, February 23 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), one of the six contestants – Yaw Black, Jedy, Optional King, Myka, Chichiz and Evance – will hope to walk home with the bragging rights as winner of the life-changing TV3 Mentor Reloaded reality show. The six contestants grabbed a spot in the finale after Sunday night’s fun and impressive ‘Free Style’ performances. Being the semi final of the reality show, the contestants from the word ‘go’ knew that a ticket to the promise land awaited them, that is if they could survive the dreadful last eviction. Chichiz started the night’s performances with his impressive rendition of Eddie Kay’s ‘Do The Dance’. “Your are an amazing entertainer…I think you are ready for the Ghana music industry…” Edem said after the performance while Adina commented  “your performance was very entertaining.” Appietus commended Chichiz’s “attitude… everything is on point.” Bessa Simons acknowledged the chemistry between him, the dancers and the band. Yaw Black was next. He wowed the audience with KODA’s ‘Guide Me’. After that delivery, Appietus said Yaw Black engaged the crowd and he did well. “You are beginning to look like a star,” Adina said and added he is improving. Edem, on his part, acknowledged his outfit. “You have done really well and you should be proud of yourself”. “You did a medley which was very good…you did really well,” Bessa Simons commended his performance. Bennada performed Akosua Adjepong’s ‘Eka Bi Nie’. She capped her performance with some impressive dance moves which got Bessa Simons to say “that was very cleaver…you’ve done really well…”, Appietus agreed with Bessa. Edem, in his remarks, said Bennada is “taking on new challenges… more grease to your elbows.” Adina acknowledged her dance moves and was happy that she is challenging herself. Optional King kicked off a performance of his rendition of Wizkid’s ‘Ojuelegba’ with traditional appellations. That performance caught the attention of Edem who said “your performance came from a true, pure and honest place…” with Appietus also saying, “I really love the fact that you came in today to represent the North…you have made yourself and the North proud.” Bessa Simons described his performance as “international” and stressed that he did not only represent the North but the whole of Ghana. Adina also said she was so proud of Optional King and that his performance was beautiful. When it was the turn of Sam Bryt, he decided to bring things back home by performing Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Bue Kwan’ with intentionally acclaimed saxophonist Steve Bedi. That collaboration on stage impressed all the judges. Bessa Simons reacted, “you are a star tonight…” while Adina said she enjoyed his performance. Edem said he performed like a pro and everything was on point. Appietus simply urged people to vote for Sam Bryt. Frema Baby decided to take the audience to Ghana’s neighbours Cote d’Ivoire. She performed legendary Ivorian musician Freddy Meiway’s ‘200 Zoblazo’. “The program worked…perfecto,” Appietus said after the performance. “Tonight you were an amazing entertainer,” Edem remarked while Adina said Frema Baby choose a good song. “You know how to entertain people…. your performed like a star.” “Never seen you like this before…that was a great performance,” Bessa Simons commented. Evance decided to take a detour before getting to business. While he had been introduced to perform Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Adult Music’ which features Samini, he warmed up the stage with Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’. When he finally got to business and did justice to the ‘Adult Music’ song, Edem said Evance was the best dressed guy of the night. According to him, he has become a star on the show. The rest of the judges also noted that he did very well. Jedy’s performance of Stonebwoy’s ‘Tomorrow’ had Appietus, Adina and Edem agreeing that he did well. Bessa Simons commented that, “You were on fire,” adding that he has the best microphone control. Myka was the last act to hit the stage. He ended the performances on a religious note with KODA’s ‘Nsem Pii’. That also received thumbs up from the judges. Edem said, “he is becoming an amazing performer…,” while Adina added that Myka came in with fire and he achieved his mission for the night. Appietus noted that he did very well and Bessa Simons added that it was a “great performance.” Musician Nero X, who was in attendance, joined hosts – Nana Kwadwo Addo and MzGee – to present the ‘Star Performer’ to Sam Bryt, ‘Best Costume’ to Evance and the ‘Viewers Choice Award’ to Myka. When it was time for the contestants to know their fate, Yaw Black, Jedy, Optional King and Myka were asked to go backstage meaning they have booked their tickets to the finale. The judges were called in to save two of the remaining contestants – Evance, Chichiz, Bennada, Sam Bryt and Frema Baby. Adina saved Evance and Chichiz, Bessa saved Chichiz and Evance, Edem saved Chichiz and Evance while Appietus saved Chichiz and Bennada. And that was the end of the road for Bennada, Sam Bryt and Frema Baby: their dreams of making it to the finale and possibly winning the two-bedroom house have been dashed. But all was not lost for the evicted contestants as all the judges pledged their support for them. Source: 3news.com | Ghana]]>
