The Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, will arguably for the first time in this year, witness the biggest outdoor events that will see the country’s media giant, the Media General Group, takes over the entire city this weekend.

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II giving Media General CEO, Beatrice Agyemang Abbey, his blessings to take over the Ashanti Region with the triple mega event launch in Kumasi

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Wednesday gracefully granted officials of Media General permission to ‘invade’ his city with a lineup of activities to not only entertain and promote culture, but to also unveil two new media brands of the MG group.

The king’s blessing paves the way for Media General to give the people of Kumasi and the Ashanti Region, nonstop entertainment experience from Saturday to Sunday.

Dubbed the ‘Oseikrom Invasion’ and ‘Ashanti Invasion’, events for the weekend will kick start Saturday morning with a musical float through the principal streets of Kumasi to announce the arrival of the media conglomerate in town and give the people a taste of what to expect from the top media brand.

Exactly 6:00pm the same day, the re-branded Music Music train will make a stop at the Heroes Park with a lineup of some of the best artistes in the country to give the people back to back musical performances.

Patrons of the show will get the rare opportunity to be part of the launch of the new ‘twins’ of Media General; Akoma FM 87.9FM (in Kumasi) and Onua TV (nationwide digital channel), which are set to deliver refreshing and compelling content in Akan (Twi).

Expect the best of performances when rappers Flowking Stone, Strongman and Yaa Jackson as well as Yaw Stone, King Paluta, Ypee, Ras Lipo, Empress Gifty, Kofi Jemar and many more artistes take the big stage one after the other to perform your favourite tunes.

Clearly, it will be an all-night musical affair!

And on Sunday, the 16 beautiful, intelligent and eloquent ladies selected from the 16 regions of the country for this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) television reality show, will ‘invade’ the Heroes Park at exactly 2:00pm to mesmerize you to follow them on TV3 for the next 13 weeks.

The bevy of ladies, who will be competing for the coveted GMB crown and the car among other mouthwatering prizes, will be unveiled at the durbar to begin their journey to stardom.

Obviously, Kumasi will be the place to be this weekend to enjoy. But don’t worry if you’re unable to make it for these absolute FREE activities; they will be shown live on TV3 and Onua TV so you don’t miss this great experience.
