Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has revealed that but for his parents’ divorce, he had dreamt of becoming a lawyer.
He said he was forced by circumstances occasioned by the decision of his parent to part ways to change his career path which has led him to what he has become today.
Speaking to Miriam Osei Agyemang on 3FM’s Urban Blend, the multiple-award winning artiste howver disclosed his parents have been instrumental throughout his formative years.
“My parents played a big role in my life”, he said.
He said his mum is a very religious woman whose prayers have kept him going, while his dad’s love for books also influenced him to start reading at an early age.
The self-acclaimed dancehall king explained he took a decade off music because of problems he faced in the music industry.
The problems he listed as, not getting paid for shows, inactivity of his record label as well as the unavailability of royalties.
He said the break was worth it as he took the time to learn new things including beat making.
Meanwhile, the “Already” hitmaker has advised TV3’s Mentor contestants to pay more attitude to their attitude in their quest to break through the music scenes.
