Veteran actor Abeiku Sagoe says most members of the newly constituted board for the National Film Authority (NFA) are incompetent.
In an interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong on Onua FM’s Anigye Mmre at the weekend, said though he was one of the persons who mounted pressure on the government to constitute the board, he is unhappy about some of the persons selected.
He claimed most of the board members, who he did not name, have led in similar capacities in the industry in the past and did nothing to improve the film industry.
“If you ask me if the 14 member governing board is competent, then I will tell you that, most of them are heads of various associations within the film industry and judging from their work there, they are incompetent and I hope they will perform better with NFA this time. Mr. Sagoe said.
Asked whether his observation is based on the fact that he was not chosen to be on the board, he answered in the negative.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inaugurated a 14-member board for the National Film Authority on Friday, December 20 chaired by David Dontoh.
