Ghana’s movie fraternity, and the country at large, has been thrown into a state of mourning and utter shock following the death of Kumawood actor Bishop Bernard Nyarko.

The Kumasi-based actor passed away on Sunday, May 2 sending shock waves through the country.

According to reports, the actor died at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, where he has been for an undisclosed ailment.

Nana Ama McBrown, John Dumelo, Lilwin, Yaw Dabo, Xandy Kamel, Mercy Asiedu, and other actors who worked closely with the late Bernard Nyarko have expressed shock at the death of their former colleague.

“Rest well Bishop…I still remember the conversation you and I had when we were filming. God bless you for the kind words…. Rest In Peace. 🙏🏿,” John Dumelo said in a post on Instagram.

“😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 ooo my God why please Why … so soon … RIP … @bishopbernardnyarko,” Lilwin posted on Instagram. “Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Awwww Bishop Bernard Kwame Nyarko eiiiiiii …. Father of all … 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 … We are all in a Queue of Death 💀… God Forgive us All …”

Others were also captured in videos circulating on social media shedding tears after they received the news of the death of their former colleague.

Ghanaians also took to various social media platforms to express shock at the actor’s death.

Loved by many, the Bishop Nyarko, some months ago, surprised many when he announced he was no longer going to feature in movies.

The actor, who was also a pastor, alleged that there were evil spirits controlling the movie industry and vowed never to return to movies.

“Every day you would meet different people, every day you would see different girls all of them wants you to become their friend and some of them are coming from the marine sea. If I have stopped acting, I have stopped because it’s full of evil….they should take their movie.”

As a pastor, Bishop Nyarko, spent time spreading the word of God and winning souls for Christ.

Several reports suggest that Bishop Bernard Nyarko, while on admission, prevented his colleagues from visiting him.
