Pressure group, the Forum for Equity and Justice (FeJ) has advised Professor Ransford Gyampo against any attempt to harass women who will be working under him in his new role as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA).
The senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, who was appointed by President John Mahama, assumed office on Monday, 3rd February 2025, but the group is concerned about his past activities at the university.
“It will be recalled that in 2019, Prof. Gyampo was implicated in the BBC’s Sex for Grades documentary, where he was captured on tape harassing a female student. This exposé confirmed longstanding concerns about his inappropriate conduct towards females, especially female students, a reputation that has been reinforced by multiple complaints allegedly made against him in the public over the years,” Forum for Equity and Justice noted in a statement on Tuesday.

PROF. RANSFORD GYAMPO MUST REFRAIN FROM HARASSING WOMEN IN HIS NEW ROLE AS CEO OF GHANA SHIPPERS AUTHORITY – FeJ
The Forum for Equity and Justice (FeJ)strongly cautions Professor Ransford Gyampo to desist from any form of harassment against women as he assumes his new role as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA).
It will be recalled that in 2019, Prof. Gyampo was implicated in the BBC’s Sex for Grades documentary, where he was captured on tape harassing a female student. This exposé confirmed longstanding concerns about his inappropriate conduct towards females, especially female students, a reputation that has been reinforced by multiple complaints allegedly made against him in the public over the years.
The Ghana Shippers Authority currently comprises a workforce of about 35% female employees, with an additional female national service personnel. Given his well-documented history, we find his appointment deeply troubling and urge immediate vigilance from all stakeholders. We serve this caution as a preemptive measure to ensure that female employees and national service personnel at GSA are protected from any predatory behavior.
The Forum for Equity and Justice will not hesitate to take decisive action, including legal and public advocacy measures, should any reports of misconduct emerge under his leadership. We further call on the Ministry of Transport, the Ghana Shippers Authority Board, and all relevant authorities to enforce strict workplace harassment policies and create a safe working environment for all employees, particularly women.
We stand firm in our commitment to justice, accountability, and the protection of women’s rights in every institution across the nation.
