The organisers of the popular Science and Maths quiz for senior high schools (SHSs) in Ghana, NSMQ, had to postpone indefinitely the third quarter-final contest on Thursday, October 30.
The contest involving three former champions Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College and Adisadel College was scheduled for the SGS Auditorium at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) on Thursday.
However, before the contest, there was a scuffle between the two Central Region schools.
It appears the auditorium was too small to accommodate the large followers of Mfantsipim and Adisco.
This delayed the start of the contest originally scheduled for 5:00pm.
“We regret to inform our cherished audience that the third Quarter-final contest of NSMQ 2025 has been postponed,” Primetime Productions said in a short statement later in the day.
“A new date and time will be communicated in due course.”
It was Day 1 of the quarter-final contests with casualties recorded prior to the all-boys-schools clash.
St Thomas Aquinas and Ghana National College had been stunned by Mankranso SHS in the first quarter-final contest while record champions PRESEC Legon had been knocked out by GSTS.
Sources say the postponed contest will come off later on Friday behind closed doors.
There are six other quarter-final clashes spread across Friday and Saturday to be cleared before the semi-final clashes.
