The Ahafo Regional Police Command has arrested two men believed to be part of a robbery syndicate that launched coordinated attacks on multiple businesses in Nkasiem on December 2, 2025.
Police say the group targeted a gold buying company, a cocoa buying firm, and attempted to break into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank, all within the same vicinity. The gang also seized two police rifles during the assaults.
According to authorities, the suspects were armed with pump-action guns and shot one person in the thigh during the attacks. The victim was treated and discharged at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem.
Following the incident, police conducted a targeted intelligence-led operation that led to the arrest of two members of the group. A manhunt is ongoing for the remaining suspects.
The Inspector-General of Police has dispatched a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to support the Ahafo Regional Command in tracking down the fugitives.
In a statement, the Command assured the public that every member of the criminal syndicate will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
Police are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity as efforts to dismantle the syndicate intensify.
