Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawase, has assured Ghanaians that the ongoing recruitment into the security services will be conducted fairly and transparently, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.
Addressing concerns over alleged interference and “protocol” entries, the Minister stressed that the process is entirely paperless, from application to selection, to prevent manipulation. “Nobody can bypass the system. That one won’t happen,” he said, adding that any attempt to exploit the process will be met with swift action.
He cited a recent case in which an individual tried to deceive applicants, noting that the suspect had already been arrested by the police over the weekend. “We are watching with eagle eyes. We won’t allow anybody to mess this process,” he warned.
The Minister clarified that the recruitment is designed to give every eligible Ghanaian a fair chance, while also prioritising professionals such as doctors, nurses, and other specialists required by the police. He explained that in cases where a critical skill is lacking, authorities may approach qualified individuals even if they have not formally applied, to meet operational needs.
Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak emphasised that those attempting to exploit personal connections or political influence will not succeed. “Even if you go through and you don’t get in, you’ll be comforted that the process is fair. Sitting at home and expecting a place through protocol is a thing of the past,” he said.
The Interior Minister’s remarks come amid growing public scrutiny over recruitment exercises in the country’s security sector, where past allegations of nepotism and irregularities have often sparked controversy. The government aims to restore public confidence by ensuring a merit-based, transparent selection that reflects the principles of equity and accountability.
“The President is keenly monitoring this process,” Hon. Mohammed-Mubarak said. “We want every Ghanaian to know that fairness is our guiding principle.”
