Afife Senior High Technical School has embarked on a transformative journey, marked by significant infrastructure developments aimed at revitalising the institution.
On Monday, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Chairman of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), alongside Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu, led a sod-cutting ceremony to commence the construction of key facilities. Projects include a two-storey boys’ dormitory with courtyard, a bungalow for the housemaster, a two-storey girls’ dormitory with courtyard, a bungalow for the housemistress, a two-storey administration and library block, and a 24-seater toilet facility.
Efforts are also underway to complete the previously abandoned 12-unit classroom block started in 2015, signalling a decisive move away from the school’s history of neglect.
In his remarks, Hon. Bedzrah committed to adopting the school and ensuring completion of all ongoing projects, pledging additional support for a dining hall and kitchen. Hon. Gunu assured that all works would be completed within one year, emphasising that abandoned projects would no longer be tolerated.
Chiefs and residents of Afife welcomed the initiatives, describing them as timely and transformative, critical for the school’s growth and the future of its students.
