The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says it is working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring suspect Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah before a weekend court, in line with constitutional timeframes governing bail.
In a news release dated October 2, 2026, and signed by its Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education on behalf of the Executive Director, EOCO said it is “fervently working” with the Attorney-General’s Office to arraign the suspect.
The Office said it is mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail.
The release followed the suspect’s voluntary surrender to EOCO at 10am on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
EOCO said it is continuing with the various investigative, procedural and operational processes, and that the suspect is cooperating with the Office as those processes continue.
EOCO also moved to correct reports circulating in the media that the suspect had been granted bail.
The Office urged the public to disregard reports that it had granted him a GH¢50 million bail.
The release did not state the allegations against the suspect or the charges he is expected to face but had indicated earlier that he is being investigated for criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters.
