Former General Secretary and National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) John Boadu has beaten opposition from three candidates including former National Chairman Paul Awentanmi Afoko to be elected the National Chairman of the party.
He polled 2,888 votes in elections held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3 to emerge winner.
His closest contender, Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, a former Minister of Energy, polled 2,408 votes.
Paul Afoko, who once served as the National Chairman but suspended in 2015, polled 780 votes to come third with Samuel Crabbe, who had withdrawn from the race to throw his support behind John Boadu, polling 41 votes.
Addressing delegates in his victory speech, Mr Boadu said the outcome of the results is one of responsibility, expressing gratitude to all for the confidence reposed in him.
He extended a hand of welcome to his contenders, insisting on uniting the party for victory in 2028.
“There must be no winners or losers [but] only one NPP united around one purpose.”
He said he will deepen relationship with all recognised groups of the party including social media influencers to ensure that victory is achieved in 2028.
