Former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency Mavis Hawa Koomson has beaten Hajia Sofia Mohammed to become the new National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She polled a total of 783 votes out of the total valid votes to beat Hajia Sofia, who polled 429 votes.
The former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development will now lead the women’s front of the party into the 2028 elections.
She is expected to organise the women in the party to lead the 2028 electioneering campaign as well.
She comes in with a wealth of experience, having led the NPP in Awutu Senya East in Parliament twice only to lose to Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor in the 2024 elections.
