Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed enthusiasm as the highly anticipated 2025 National Economic Dialogue begins today, Monday, 3rd March, to Tuesday, 4th March 2025.

The historic event is expected to shape the country’s economic direction, and its outcomes will influence the upcoming National Budget, which the Finance Minister will present on 11 March 2025.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page ahead of the dialogue, Dr Forson emphasised its significance in resetting Ghana’s economy and fostering sustainable growth.

“I am excited that the historic 2025 National Economic Dialogue is starting this morning. Its outcomes will find clear expression in the upcoming National Budget, which will be read on 11th March 2025, as we work together to reset Ghana’s economy and drive sustainable growth,” he said.

The dialogue brings together government officials, economic experts, business leaders, civil society groups, and development partners to deliberate on policies and strategies to strengthen Ghana’s economic resilience.

President John Dramani Mahama is the Guest of Honour.

It is being held under the theme: “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together”.

The dialogue, taking place at the Accra International Conference Centre, is expected to address key issues such as debt sustainability, job creation, industrialisation, and macroeconomic stability.

The programme’s moderators include former Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Paul Acquah, former GNPC CEO Dr Kofi Koduah Sarpong, Felix Addo, Emmanuel Akwetey, Dr Edward K. Brown, and Joe Mensah.

Presenters include Leslie Dwight, Prof Ebo Turkson, Abena Osei-Poku, David Ofosu-Dorte, Elikplim Kwabla Apetorgbor, and Franklin Cudjoe.

The forum’s outcomes will guide the government’s fiscal policies and economic interventions, ensuring an inclusive and growth-oriented budget for 2025.

The dialogue marks a crucial step in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to revamp its economy, particularly as the country navigates post-pandemic recovery and global economic uncertainties.

Stakeholders are optimistic that the discussions will yield practical solutions to accelerate national development.

More updates to follow as the dialogue progresses.
