Pupils of Super Kids Academy in Accra, have commemorated the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day, instituted by the John Mahama administration.

The event, designed to coincide with the Republic Day celebration, to pray and thank God for his blessings, was marked across the country.

The school, comprising basic and junior high, according to management, joining in the first edition, announced it intends to make the event a yearly programme.

According to them, they will commemorate and observe the day every year, so long as it is a national affair, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging the importance of God in the affairs of Ghana and the school.

On the day, and before beginning the academic work started, the pupils gathered at the assembly hall, to pray and sing. There were prayer topics where the school prayed for Ghana, the president and government, the labour force, the youth, and all Ghanaian.

There was also preaching of sermon by the resident pastor of Evanfel Church International, Tantra Hills Assembly, described the day as a significant one, stressing the need for the citizens to change from things that draws the country back.

“If as Ghana we want God to heal our economy, we want God to heal our education, we want the fear of God into all the sectors of this economy, we need to turn away from our wicked ways.

Pastor Mensah described Ghana as a chosen generation, gate way to Africa, black star of Africa “so you have to be proud, and you have to secure today and pray that God will uncover any blessing that he is hiding from us. There are hidden riches in secret places that God has endowed us as a nation”.

He said with prayer, Ghana can reveal these riches and make the country a better place for all to the extent that, the country will develop to the state where the citizens will not fancy traveling abroad to seek greener pastures.

There were also song ministrations by teachers and pupils amidst dancing and waving of the Ghana flag.

Speaking on the sidelines of the programme, founder and proprietress of Super Kids Academy, Fanny S. Palmer, expressed excitement about the initiative by the president.

As a Sierra Leonean-Ghanaian, Ms Palmer said the school opted to participate in the celebration so that the children can thank God in a special way and appreciate the need to be patriotic citizens.

“The programme was organized so that the children will appreciate Ghana and see the value of praising God and also grow to become patriotic Ghanaians. It is also thank God for what he has done. We believe that Ghana is the gateway to Africa and it is the land of opportunities so as we pray for the prosperity of Ghana, we know that our nation will be great and strong”, she said.

A senior teacher, Margaret Nanor, said they were pleasantly surprised when they were informed that, the school was going to participate in the event.

Ms Nanor acknowledged the contribution of the founder, saying she has always been consistent with whatever she set her eyes on to do. According to her, Ms Palmer has been committed to the course of Ghana and lauded her for efforts urging her to continue on that path.

“Everything about Ghana, she is happy to be part. She exhibits patriotism even more than those of us who were born Ghanaians, that is what I have noticed. We appreciate the spirit has, she is a good person, and I am happy to work with her, I am learning a lot”.

Established during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Super Kids Academy, is growing steadily with a total number of pupils standing at over 200.
