In the wake of the unfortunate passing of Ernest Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is poised to launch a vigorous campaign to recapture the parliamentary seat.
Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, made a bold declaration on TV3’s Keypoint program, highlighting the party’s unwavering resolve and optimism following their recent triumph in the Ablekuma North by-election.
Dafeamekpor underscored the growing trust and support the NDC is garnering from Ghanaians and delivered a stern warning to the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP), advising them against setting their sights on the Akwatia constituency.
“Forget about Akwatia. Just as Bill Gates continues to seek profit, we will relentlessly pursue victory there,” Dafeamekpor affirmed with confidence.
Acknowledging the late MP’s controversial tenure in Parliament, Dafeamekpor reflected on the attempts to hold him in contempt, revealing the unforeseen brevity of his time in office.
In a gesture of empathy, Dafeamekpor outlined the NDC’s commitment to leveraging the by-election as an opportunity to foster development in Akwatia and surrounding areas, hinting at a strategic push for progress under the president’s directives.
As the Electoral Commission delays the announcement of the official by-election date for Akwatia, the anticipation and stakes continue to rise in the political landscape.
