Ghana’s leading television channel and a subsidiary of the Media General Group, TV3 has entrenched its lead in television viewership in Ghana with the largest audience share in the latest report by Geopoll.

Geopoll compiles television and radio audience share, weekly, across the country and provides this information to the entire industry.

The report pegs TV3’s viewer share for the first week in March at 14.33% from a full month average of 14% in February 2018.

The report shows TV3 has consistently led the industry in share of viewership over the last 5 weeks — making TV3 the nation’s most watched TV channel.

TV3 recorded an average share of 14% in February and 14.33% in the first week of March.

Sharing her thoughts on the latest industry figures, Beatrice Agyemang-Abbey, General Manager in charge of TV at Media General expressed the station’s gratitude to its cherished viewers for their immense support.

“To be the most watched channel in Ghana’s hyper competitive TV industry is no mean achievement, we truly appreciate our loyal viewers for making us number one.”

Beatrice Abbey further said “TV3 remains the obvious choice for the majority of Ghanaians because of our authentic and superior content. As Ghana’s leading TV channel, we identify with the Ghanaian public, we engage our viewers on a regular basis and we undertake research to understand their viewing preferences and push ourselves to deliver relevant content that engages, entertains and enriches their lives”.

According to the General Manager of MG TV, the station understands very well its viewers’ preference for premium local content and have over the years delivered just that — be it news and current affairs, drama series, sports, music or movies.

“Late last year, we introduced Sadia — a refined Ghanaian alternative to foreign telenovelas as a clear demonstration of our commitment to promoting our own local creative arts industry.”  she added.

Beatrice Abbey further stated that TV3 also revamped its prime time to give more focus to local content and as evidenced from the latest Geopoll report, the audiences have responded positively by making TV3 the most watched TV channel in Ghana consistently over the last 5 weeks.

“Our viewers can always count on us to be the First in News and the Best in Entertainment. For our partners and advertisers, TV3 remains the preferred channel for reaching your target audience and customers. Our rich content and superior programming provides a compelling channel for meaningful engagements. We remain committed to supporting businesses in Ghana to grow through the various initiatives we undertake including the Ghana Month celebrations currently underway to project the best of Ghana and to profile and empower local Ghanaian businesses to thrive.” She concluded.

TV3 leads in the morning, afternoon and core prime viewing times.

Aside leading in overall viewership, TV3 picked top spots for individual programmes for both Prime and Day time viewing.

For instance, the station’s award winning News Programme, News 360, recorded the highest viewership for all programmes across all TV channels in Ghana over the last 5 weeks with the highest number of viewers and a share of 19% — making News 360, the most watched programme in the country.

Other leading programmes include Sadia — the authentic Ghanaian drama series the station introduced in December last year that has become the favourite of majority of Ghanaians.

Sadia which airs twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm recorded a composite share of 16% over the period.

Sports Station and other exciting magazine programmes , and Road to Russia which is a programme in preparation towards the 2018 World Cup recorded audience shares of 16% and 12% respectively.

The channel’s Day time programmes also recorded remarkable hits with After Hours (re-run), Yolo (Re-run), Talented Kids (re-run), 3 Music, Guy Guy, and Dark Widow leading the pack.

TV3 is part of Media General, a leading media conglomerate that also owns 3FM 92.7MHz, Onua FM 95.1MHz (both in Accra) Connect FM 97.1MHz ( in Takoradi), Akoma FM 87.9MHz ( in Kumasi) and 3news.com.
