Asante Kotoko Head Coach Abdul-Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role withediate effect, the club has announced.
The on Monday, February 9 followed the club’s failure to defend the MTN FA Cup after exiting at the Round of 16.
“Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best for the future,” a statement by the club noted.
The decision also comes after a string of poor results, culminating in the 2-4 penalty loss to Aduana FC in the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup.
Pressure was mounting on Karim Zito, who took up the reins in similar fashion towards the end of last season when Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum was having a torrid season.
The former Dreams FC coach came in to annex the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup but lost the Ghana Premier League to Bibiani Goldstars.
He superintended 39 games in his less-than-a-year stint, winning 17 and losing 11. He recorded 11 draws as well, putting his winning percentage of 44.
Aside the MTN FA Cup, Zito also won the 2025 President’s Cup and the Champion of Champions.
The Porcupine Warriors are currently 5th in the domestic league on 35 points.
Their next game will be against archrivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 15.
Assistant Coach Prince Yaw Owusu is expected to take charge of that game.
