The Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners Ltd, Ibrahim Mahama, has donated food items and undisclosed amount of money to the Muslim community in Tamale. The beneficiaries include the Jamiu, Ambariya, Albayan mosques, the Tamale Children’s Home and the Tamale Prisons Service. Donating the items on behalf of Mr. Mahama, his aide, Rafik Mahama, said the donation is to support the Muslim community and the vulnerable for the celebration of this year’s Eid al-Adha. About 95 nurses from Ghana were shuttled off a chartered flight into the Grantley Adams International Airport on Thursday. The 95 Ghanaian nurses arrived via Azores Airlines. The chartered flight was scheduled to arrive at 5.50 pm. Prior to the arrival, originally it was communicated that the cohort of nurses would arrive earlier this week. The nurses went straight into the Gate 14 area after sanitizing their hands and going through the thermal scanning. The direct flight to Barbados came out of Accra, Ghana. One of the ladies who were seen assaulting 90-year-old Akua Denteh has been arrested, 3news.com has gathered. She was arrested at Kejewu Botor, a farming community in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region. According to a source Kejewu Botor, the arrest on Thursday followed a tip-off from members of the community. The source added that police stationed around the area were immediately informed about her presence, leading to her arrest. A final year student of the Oyoko Methodist Senior High School has passed away after fainting at the examination hall. It is unclear what the cause of death may be. But the student, a female, was rushed by school authorities to St Joseph Hospital at Effiduase, where she was pronounced dead. Top Republicans have rejected President Donald Trump’s suggestion that November’s presidential election should be delayed over alleged fraud concerns. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy both dismissed the idea. Mr Trump does not have the authority to postpone the election, as any delay would have to be approved by Congress. District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central in the Central Region Benjamin Otoo has said the district is poised to end the double-track system in high schools in the next academic year. The Assembly, according to Mr. Otoo, has embarked upon construction of multiple-unit classroom blocks at various basic schools and Gomoa Jaman Senior High School to enhance the Free SHS Policy.
