After days of steady reduction in the active cases of coronavirus in Ghana, the situation is turning back again. There has been a sharp increase in the active cases from the latest case count by the Ghana Health Service. Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak have reached an agreement with Joseph Esso, who left the club last week due to contract disagreement, to return. The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) Council has appointed Professor Richard Kwasi Amankwah as its new Vice-Chancellor. He takes over from Professor Jerry Samuel Yao Kuma, whose term of office ends on October 15, 2020. South Africa’s president has said coronavirus infections appear to have peaked in the country, as he announced a sweeping relaxation of lockdown measures. Tension is mounting in Koforidua, the Eastern Region capital, between members of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA) and Nigerians retailers. Members of the Union are agitating over influx of foreigners mostly Nigerians in retail business, contrary to the laws of Ghana. The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency has set up a disaster recovery fund for victims of Friday night’s fire at ‘Kiosks Estate’ near Shiashie in Accra.
