Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Geoffrey Onyeama has tested positive for Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus. He is a member of a presidential task force on Covid-19 that is coordinating the country’s response to the pandemic. The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has cleared the air regarding claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that its agents were prevented from monitoring the registration exercise in some two senior high schools in the Ashanti Region. The president went into self-isolation on Saturday, July 4 upon advice from his doctors after “at least one person within his close circle tested positive for Covid-19” that day. The latest case count on coronavirus released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Sunday, July 19 has seen a sharp rise in the active cases. From 3,871, the active cases are now 4,270, a situation that will be worrying to stakeholders.
