The Minority members on the Communications Committee of Parliament have challenged the authority of the Minister of Communications in writing to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to reduce the number of its channels on the National Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network. The President of Film Producers Association of Ghana, James Aboagye, has debunked the assertion that the movie industry in Ghana is suffering. Most Ghanaians, entertainment pundits, actors and movie lovers have accepted the fact that the Ghana movie industry is suffering slowly due to low patronage in sales of films. Cameroon will not host the mini-tournament to decide the 2020 African Champions League winners, the country has announced. Last month, after assessing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on African football, Caf said the semi-finals and final would be played in a “Final Four” format in September. The Ghana Education Service (GES) is holding a crunch meeting on Wednesday on how the senior high school (SHS) students who have tested positive to the coronavirus will write the West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASCCE). The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) says it is illegal for any registered voter to guarantee for a prospective applicant if they are not directly related. US President Donald Trump has signed an order to end preferential economic treatment for Hong Kong, after China enacted a new security law there. “Hong Kong will now be treated the same as mainland China,” Mr Trump said. He also signed bipartisan legislation to impose sanctions on Chinese officials who crack down on rights in Hong Kong. China said it would take retaliatory action. The Communication Unit of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region has accused the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) of deliberately deploying faulty biometric voter registration (BVR) kits and other registration materials to the Region.
