The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has recorded cases of coronavirus after a mass testing of its staff. A total of 450 staff including the Chief Executive Officer were tested. Out of this, 39 had their samples return positive. “All thirty-nine (39) staff were asked to go into self-quarantine and those who were in close proximity to them were also asked to do same and were provided with the necessary logistics to do so,” the Authority said in a statement. Zindzi Mandela, the daughter of South Africa’s anti-apartheid icons Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, has died, public broadcaster SABC has reported. She died in Johannesburg on Monday morning aged 59. The death has been confirmed by a family source, SABC reports. She was the South African ambassador to Denmark at the time of her death. The Eastern Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has promised to increase the percentage of accumulated votes in the 2016 elections by two to three per cent in this year’s polls. Ghana’s coronavirus fatalities have risen from 135 to 139, according to the latest case count released by the Ghana Health Service. The total cumulative cases have also seen an increase from 24,248 to 24,518. The recoveries-cum-discharges have seen a significant increase, reducing the number of active cases under care and management across health facilities in the country. So far, 20,187 patients have either recovered or been discharged to continue the recovery regimen at home. This leaves 4,192 persons as carriers of the virus.
