Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has narrated the circumstances that led to his detention by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) earlier on Wednesday evening. Management of Ghana Water Limited in the Accra West Region has announced a temporary shutdown of the Weija Treatment Plant for repair works. According to a press release issued on Tuesday, December 2, one of the major pipelines bringing water from the Plant to the western parts of Accra has developed serious perforations. This the press release noted can cause the faulty pipeline to give way if immediate action is not taken to repair it. This exercise is expected to halt water production temporarily. Staff at a Virginia liquor store got a shock on Saturday when they came into work to find the store had been broken into by a very intoxicated raccoon. The “masked bandit” was found passed out in the bathroom between the toilet and bin having helped itself to some bottom shelf spirits. The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has released private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu hours after he was detained on Wednesday. The firebrand lawyer was detained after honouring an invitation to him by the anti-corruption body. He is said to have obstructed an officer of the OSP from discharging his duties. He was later said to have been taken to the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) for further interrogation. The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has expressed outrage over the recent upward adjustment of utility tariffs by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC). On Tuesday, December 2, the PURC announced an upward adjustment of 9.86 percent for electricity and 15.92 percent for water effective January, 2026. Last week, the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) released the 2025 results, sparking intense debate across the country.
