The scheduled meeting between the Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and authorities as well as students has been cancelled. The parties were summoned to the Manhyia Palace for the meeting on Thursday. It was, however, called off at the eleventh hour, Onua FM’s Kwame Baffoe Agyekum reported. Management of Shaanxi Mining Ghana Limited has expressed shock at recent reports of a mining accident at its Gbane mines in the Upper East Region . It says the reports seek to cause “irreparable damage” to its corporate image. The reports said a cleaner was killed while three other workers were choked last week. Nigeria’s parliament has passed a law capping campaign spending for next year’s elections. The following limits have been set: Presidential candidates: $14m (£11m) Gubernatorial candidates: $3m Senate candidates: $700,000 House of Representatives candidates: $280,000.
