US President Donald Trump has said getting on with Russia is “a good thing, not a bad thing” at the start of his first summit with Vladimir Putin. The Paris metro has temporarily renamed six stations in honour of France’s World Cup victors, as the capital prepares to salute their return. The French coach’s name features at two stops. Notre-Dame des Champs becomes Notre Didier Deschamps while one of the central stops is renamed Deschamps Elysées-Clémenceau. Ocean-monitoring satellites have been set up to control fishing activities during the closed season in August, the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development has said. A mob of angry villagers has killed nearly 300 crocodiles at a sanctuary for the animals in the Indonesian province of West Papua. The slaughter was in retaliation for a local man thought to have been killed by one animal from the site. Officials and police said they were not able to stop the attack and may now press charges. Excitement has gripped the small village of Kogelo in western Kenya as their famous son, former US President Barack Obama, visits after 12 years.
