Former Deputy Ghana Ambassador to China Horace Ankrah has pointed to systemic failure for the directive from the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to the Scholarship Secretariat for a student from the Adeiso Senior High School in the Eastern Region to be given a full scholarship. The student, Thomas Amoaning, obtained grade A1 in all eight subjects in the 2020 West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Ambassador Horace Ankrah said if the systems were working under the current government, the president should not have given the directives because the system would have notified the WASSCE graduate and come to…

At a rally at the Atomic Park in Accra on Wednesday, November 25, Adwoa Safo promised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate a total of 120,000 votes to secure victory for him come December 7. “Today, our president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is hear because he has hope in us,” she told the…
The presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has entreated political party leaders to have some level of trust in the electoral process for the sake of peace in the country. Brigitte Dzogbenuku, however, called for a review of the 1992 Constitution to prevent the appointment of the Chair of the Electoral Commission by a political party in power. “There are issues coming up about the non-transparency in the Electoral Commission and the fact the EC is in bed with some political party,” she noted. “It’s a fundamental thing we have to deal with but we all need to…
The Duchess of Sussex has revealed she had a miscarriage in July, writing in an article of feeling “an almost unbearable grief”. “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second,” Meghan said in a piece for the New York Times. She went on to describe how she watched “my husband’s heart break as he tried to hold the shattered pieces of mine”. Meghan wrote that “loss and pain have plagued every one of us in 2020”. The 39-year-old shared her experience to urge people to “commit to asking others, ‘are you OK?'” over the…
The late Kofi Annan, son of our Ghanaian soil, perhaps did not think through it well, when he said, ‘elections are at the heart of democracy, when conducted with integrity, they allow citizens to have a voice in how and by whom they are governed’, because the alternative may be the reality in his continent of birth. With less than two weeks to Ghana’s general elections, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa can not reject accusations that the commission is in bed with the incumbent government by mere jokes. Uncertainly, Mrs. Jean Mensa strongly believed, if she…

Bashiru Hayford, who has vast experience in the Ghanaian Premier League, will be heading the technical department of Legon Cities until the end of the ongoing Ghana Premier League season. Legon Cities despite bringing in marquee signings to their set up are without a win this season and lost heavily by 3-0 to Great Olympics in Week Two at the…

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says despite assurances given by the National Security Minister and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on safety and security before, during and after the December 7 elections, they do not trust them. The largest opposition party says its mistrust is as a result of history of the current “failed, corrupt and dishonest” Akufo-Addo-led government. “We have taken note of assurances given by the Minister for National Security, Mr Albert Kan Dapaah, and the IGP, Mr James Oppong Boanuh, that adequate security will be provided on election day,” NDC’s Director of Elections Elvis Afriyie Ankrah…
