A Wesley Grammar School bus, carrying about 83 students, caught fire on Friday, November 28 at the Kasoa Tollbooth. Eye witnesses said smoke was seen billowing from beneath the bus, causing all on board to rush out. Efforts to control the ensuing flames proved futile as seats and educational materials belonging to the students were burnt into ashes. There were five teachers on board when the incident occurred. According to one of the teachers, they were en route Ngleshie Amanfrom SHS for their zonal games. No casualties were recorded.
Guinea-Bissau’s deposed President Umaro Sissoco Embaló has arrived in neighbouring Senegal following his release by the military forces who toppled his government this week, Senegal’s authorities have announced. It follows negotiations by the regional West African bloc Ecowas to secure his transfer amid rising tensions in Guinea-Bissau. A Kumasi High Court presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith-Arthur has declared Akosua Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as the surviving wives of late musician Daddy Lumba. Justice Smith-Arthur delivered her judgement on Friday, November 28 after hearing from five witnesses in a case brought before her by Akosua Serwaa, the supposed first wife of the late musician. Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has been laid to rest. Ghana’s longest-serving First Lady, Nana Konadu was laid to rest at the Military Cemetery in Burma Camp, the same place her late husband, Flt. Lt. (rtd) Jerry John Rawlings, was buried. She was, however, interred at the National Memorial Section of the cemetery, next to former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan. The final funeral rites for former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings is underway at the Black Stars Square.
