Malawi’s President Peter Mutharika has blamed blackouts across the country on what he called the “ignorance” of previous administrations, local media report. “The problem with energy sector is due to ignorance that the previous governments had towards the sector in the last 50 years,” President Peter Mutharika was quoted as saying on Monday. The overwhelming majority of adults in England are so unhealthy they put their lives at risk, a survey suggests. The data from the Health Survey for England showed nearly nine in 10 had at least one unhealthy trait. That was classed as those who smoke, drink more than 14 units of alcohol, eat fewer than five portions of fruit and vegetables, are obese or have low rates of physical activity. At exactly 6pm Ethiopian Time on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at ET’s headquarters to signify government’s undertaking to work with ET in establishing a new home-based flag carrier. The campaign team of former Greater Accra Region Minister Professor Joshua Alabi has picked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential nomination forms for him. The team led by a former Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament, Ken Dzirasah, issued a cheque for GH¢20,000 for the forms, at the party’s headquarter in Adabraka, Accra. The UK should be able to unilaterally cancel its withdrawal from the EU, according to a top European law officer. The non-binding opinion was delivered by the European Court of Justice’s advocate general. A group of Scottish politicians has asked the court whether the UK can call off Brexit without the consent of other member states. Social networking site Tumblr has announced plans to ban all pornographic content, effective from 17 December. The new policy comes weeks after the site was pulled from Apple’s App Store after child abuse images made it past Tumblr’s filters. The National Labour Commission (NLC) has given its ruling on the compulsory arbitration between the Colleges of Education Teachers Association (CETAG) and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC). The former was asked at a meeting on Thursday, November 29 to enter a compulsory arbitration with the nation’s salaries-determining body.
