Former President Jerry John Rawlings has expressed his condolences to the family of former Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, who passed away on Friday. According to the former president, the news “has come as a shock”. Mr Amissah-Arthur died at the 37 Military Hospital after he collapsed during a morning work-out. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed shock at the demise of immediate past vice president Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur on Friday. On Thursday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo released the eighteenth annual Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report. The report assesses the efforts of governments around the world to fight human trafficking, including in the United States. This year’s TIP Report notes the Government of Ghana’s increased efforts to combat human trafficking in 2017, including implementing a national anti-trafficking plan, prosecuting and convicting an increased number of labor and sex traffickers, and increasing cooperation across anti-trafficking government agencies. Ed Sheeran is being sued for $100m (£76.4m) for allegedly copying parts of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On. It’s alleged the singer ripped off sections of the 1973 classic for his number one hit Thinking Out Loud. Legal documents in the US allege it copies “the melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bass line, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping”. Former Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) Charlotte Osei has poured her sorrows out in mourning the death of the immediate past Vice President, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur.
