Hundreds of school girls and women gathered at the Zimmerman Presbyterian Chapel in Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region for an empowerment programme as regards menstrual hygiene. The programme, put together by non-governmental organisation Inspire to Rise in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and the Lower Manya Krobo District Assembly, was to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day on Monday, May 28. The Minority in Parliament says government is desperate to fulfill the many promises it made to Ghanaians as it has resorted to spending a huge chunk of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for its flagship projects. According to the Minority, government has written to metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) to allocate 80 per cent of the DACF for its priority projects.
