Over 200 final year Junior High School candidates from the Saboba District of the Northern Region who will be taking part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) have been successfully evacuated by the Assembly to the examination center in Saboba. The students, who were stranded due to a flooding situation caused by the overflow of the spillage of the Bagre Dam, say they are happy they will be taking part in the examinations despite earlier fears. Ghana’s Covid-19 deaths have increased by one. From the latest update given by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on Saturday, September 12, the number of deaths rose from 285 to 286. But a total of 46 new cases confirmed sees the cumulative total cases rise to 45,434. The recoveries-cum-discharges are now 44,342. This has left only 806 cases as active in Ghana. The country first recorded the coronavirus on Thursday, March 12. Since then, it has infected people from across the country. Greater Accra Region has the highest number of cases. Police have begun investigations into the suspected murder of Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benneh of the University of Ghana Law Faculty. Prof Benneh is said to have been murdered at his Adjiriganor residence in East Legon after his mutilated body was found on Saturday morning. Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Saturday commissioned Ghana’s third medical drone delivery centre at Vobsi in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region. The centre, as characteristic of the ones at Omenako in the Eastern Region and Mpanya in the Ashanti Region, is to improve healthcare delivery, especially, in hard-to-reach areas.
