The Committee on Employment, Social Welfare and State Enterprises of Parliament has recommended to government to take over both assets and liabilities of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA). Speaking on the floor of Parliament at the second reading of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) Bill 2017, the Chairman of the Committee,  Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, indicated that Clause 34 of the Bill provides that assets, rights and liabilities of SADA established under the SADA Act 805 be transferred to the Northern Development Authority upon its establishment. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will on Tuesday, October 10 launch the restoration of monthly allowances for trainee nurses and midwives. A ceremony has been scheduled to take place at the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training School to mark the launch. About 68,000 trainee nurses and midwives from public health training institutions are expected to benefit from the programme. The gesture is to mark the fulfillment of a manifesto promise by the president. Former President John Dramani Mahama is leaving Accra Thursday for Liberia’s capital of Monrovia as leader of the elections Observer Mission of sub-regional bloc Economic community of West African States (Ecowas). The Mission will be in Liberia to observe next Tuesday’s polls, which appears to be between Vice President Joseph Boakai and former footballer George Oppon Weah. The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has cautioned the public to be wary of a new insurance firm by name International Insurance (Ghana) Company (IIC). According to a public notice issued by NIC on Thursday, the new insurance firm is operating without license. “The NIC wishes to inform the public that it has not licensed any company by name International Insurance (Ghana) Company.” IIC is said to be operating within the Suhum and Koforidua environs of the Eastern Region. Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay are to make a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The three countries’ presidents announced the plan in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, although the bidding process will not begin for several more years.
