Two suspected armed robbers have been picked up by police in connection with investigations into the deadly armed robbery attack on Ghana Premier League club Berekum Chelsea, NewsfileGH can confirm.

The two were picked up after a similar attack on Tuesday dawn.

The suspects have been taken to police custody as the manhunt for the rest of the perpetrators continue.

Police have vowed to arrest the robbers after they killed player Dominic Frimpong, who was with the team travelling home from the 1-0 loss at FC Samartex.

He is said to have sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“The [Ashanti] Regional Police Command has deployed additional personnel and crime scene experts to the area and is currently on a manhunt for the suspects,” police had said in a statement on Monday.

“The Police assure the public that the perpetrators will be arrested within the shortest possible time.”
