National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams has written to the Acting Inspector General of Police to use his high office to order the release of his five vehicles from police custody. According to Mr Adams, the vehicles are in the custody of the police unlawfully. Dadaab is one of the world’s largest refugee campKenya’s high court has blocked the government’s bid to close one of the largest refugee camp’s in the world at Dadaab near the border with Somalia and to repatriate Somali refugees. The judge ruled that the decision to forcibly repatriate the refugees was tantamount to an act of “group persecution” and was, therefore, unconstitutional. The government issued the directive to close the camp last year, saying it was necessary to protect the country from security threats. Minister-designate for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Samuel Kofi Dzamesi says the current monthly stipend to paramount chiefs and queenmothers is inadequate. He says if given the nod he will lobby for an increase in the amount. MPs have overwhelmingly agreed to let the government begin the UK’s departure from the EU in their final vote on the Brexit bill. The draft legislation was approved by 494 votes to 122, and now moves to the House of Lords.
