The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has threatened to strike in the next two weeks if the government fail to set up governing councils for the various public universities across the country. The absence of a police officer prosecuting the assault case against 13 members of Delta Force has caused the Kumasi Circuit Court to adjourned the case to August 8. The court presided over by Ms. Mary Senkyire heard Thursday morning that the police prosecutor handling the case, ACP Okyere Darko, was on leave hence his inability to show up in court. Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko is in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital after the bus of the team crashed into a stationary car Wednesday night, leaving the team’s assistant equipment officer dead. The coach, Steve Polak, was returning to Kumasi with the players and officials of the club when their bus was involved in an accident at the Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway at about 9:45pm. One person is feared dead after the team bus of Asante Kotoko was involved in an accident near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region. The team was returning to Kumasi after a narrow 0-1 loss to Inter Allies in midweek. It is unclear what may have caused the accident but reports say the bus rammed into a parked truck. The first and second floors of City Lights Limited, located at East Legon near American Int. School, was engulfed by fire on Wednesday afternoon. It is unclear what caused the fire, which was reported to have started at about 4:30pm.
