Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) is warning that all the inhabitants along the Weija Dam catchment area in Accra would be wipe off within seconds should the dam collapse. The GWCL says if it does not spill water to release the dam of pressure, what would happen is a collapse and that would be a disaster for the nation because several people would die. Staff of the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital have begun an industrial action, which will see workers not doing any work though reporting to work. The sit-down strike is in protest to the mass encroachment on lands in front of the medical facility. Staff say the situation is hampering operations of the Hospital while they are also made vulnerable to thefts and attacks, in most cases. Residents of Dohanayili are still sleeping in darkness several days after a rainstorm resulted in power cuts. But that was preceded by a fist-fight between youth of the town and some officials of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) . Kenya’s president has warned the country’s judiciary not to help the opposition throw the next election into disarray. The presidential poll will take place next month and Uhuru Kenyatta is seeking re-election.
