The immediate past Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, Kingsley Kwame Awuah-Darko, has filed a suit at the Accra High Court against outspoken legislator Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. Mr Awuah-Darko accuses Mr Agyapong of expressing defamatory statements about him on two Accra-based radio stations – Asempa FM and Oman FM. The Ho Technical University branch of Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) has sent a strong word to government to immediately constitute the governing councils of all technical universities and polytechnics in the country or else they will go on a mass strike. An Accra High Court has struck out a case involving Alhaji Alhassan Umar, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Zabzugu in the Northern Region for having dual citizenship. The court presided over by Mrs Patience Mills-Tetteh finds the allegation unfounded and set the reliefs aside. The Ghana National Association of Teachers is pushing for female teachers in the country to be given six months maternity leave, arguing that would give them enough time to wean their babies. GNAT says it would also give nursing mothers the opportunity to feed their babies with breast milk exclusively for six in line with the Ghana Health Service policy of feeding babies, as well as get enough time to care for their babies. Ghana faces imminent Tuberculosis outbreak as the country is recording increasing numbers of emerging transmission of drug-resistant strain of bacteria amongst newly diagnosed patients. The High Court in Accra has granted an interim injunction stopping the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) from going ahead with its mass transfer and decision to reduce the ranks of some staff. It has also suspended the “proceed on leave” order issued by the management of YEA to some staff in an ongoing restructuring exercise by the Agency. About 199 metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCEs) recently approved by their respective assemblies have up till Monday, July 24 to declare their assets.
