Only one out of 73 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates from Denkyira Obuasi could not make it to the Upper Denkyira West district capital to write the ongoing examinations. A total of 468, 053 Junior High School candidates are sitting this year’s examinations across 1,702 examination centers throughout the country. The Professional and Managerial Staff Union (PMSU) has called for the amendment of the law establishing the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to enable employees use their contributions as collateral to access loan especially for mortgage purposes. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dr. Ziblim Iddi has reiterated government’s commitment to preserve the Atewa forest reserve. At the unveiling of the official music video for the preservation campaign, the minister said the campaign will save the depleting forest from galamsey activities. The Atewa forest in the Kwaebibirem district of the Eastern region is one of Ghana’s rich ecotourist reserves.
