The 50 ministers and 60 deputy ministers appointed by President Akufo-Addo are yet to receive their salary months after they were sworn into office. There was public outcry following the nomination of these 110 appointees appointed between February and March. The opposition condemned the “abnormal” number considering the toll it will have on the public purse. The ranking member of the Youth, Sports and Culture Committee of Parliament, Kobby Mensah Woyome has advised management of the Youth Enterprise Agency (YEA) to wean the agency off partisanship in its operations. Seven US Navy crew members are missing after their ship collided with a merchant vessel off the coast of Japan. Among the injured is the USS Fitzgerald’s commanding officer, who was taken to hospital by helicopter. The destroyer collided with the container ship about 56 nautical miles (104km) south-west of Yokosuka. The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GcNET) has expressed confidence in meeting government’s deadline to achieve 100 percent paperless transactions at the ports by September this year.
