The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has indicated that his government is in the process of identifying alternative sources of livelihood for persons involved in illegal mining activities, popularly referred to as ‘galamsey’, across the country. A 41-year-old man who claims to be a qualified nurse, and allegedly been operating an abortion joint at Chorkor Lante Maami in Accra has been arrested. Godwin Kwame Adadzawa was said to have locked up one of his victims, a 22-year-old student, for four days and sexually assaulted her to compensate for her inability to foot her abortion bills. Ghana Oil Company limited (GOIL) recorded a turnover of GHC2,645.441 million, representing 26. 95 per cent in 2016, with a net profit of GHC35. 256 million in the same year. The company also increased its market share from 13.6 per cent in 2009 to 18.2 per cent in 2016 to become the market leader.
