Around 50,000 people in Hannover will be evacuated from their homes on Sunday while experts defuse five World War Two bombs. The operation is the second largest of its kind carried out in Germany, and will affect around a tenth of the city’s population. Some selected journalists in the Upper West Region have undergone a two-day training on agro-ecology in Lawra to understand issues affecting agro-ecological systems for accurate reportage. Agroecology is the study of ecological processes applied to agricultural production systems. Government has increased the GHC500 sitting allowance for each member of the various Houses of Chiefs to GHC1,000, Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kofi Dzamesi, announced Thursday. The GHC350 allowance for queenmothers has been pegged at GHC800. A total of GHC50,000 has also been allocated by the government for the rehabilitation of the offices of the various regional houses of chiefs.
