A delegation of professors and students from the United States has arrived in Ghana to train parents, teachers and caregivers on how effectively take care of children with intellectual disabilities. The delegation from The College of New Jersey, (TCNJ) USA is expected to conduct assessments on children intellectual disabilities including Autism, in order to design the appropriate training. The trip by the group forms part of a study abroad programme aimed at broadening the worldview of the members on their chosen fields of study. The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has underscored the harsh situations teacher trainees in the country went through when their allowances were cancelled. CETAG says when the allowances were cancelled, students had no money to pay their fees, buy books and go for teaching practice but with the restoration of the allowances, teacher trainees will be better off. The Dunkwa District Police has arrested four men including two police officers for robbery at a galamsey site in Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region. The men were arrested on Monday, January 16 by mine workers and were nearly lynched but for the timely intervention of the District Police Command. The officers as well as one of the two civilians are said to be stationed at Cape Coast Kotokuraba Police Station. They are said to carry out their robbery activities at mining sites in Dunkwa-on-Offin. Efforts to reach the Dunkwa Police Commander for confirmation proved futile. Facebook is introducing new tools in Germany to help combat the spread of fabricated news stories. The world’s largest social network said it would enable German users to flag potentially false stories. The stories will then be passed to third-party fact-checkers and if found to be unreliable, will be marked in users’ news feeds as “disputed”.
