The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has described as false reports that its president, Alhaji Issa Hayatou, is under investigation for graft over a commercial deal with Lagardère Sports. According to reports in Egypt, where Caf’s headquarters is based, Alhaji Hayatou was under investigation by the Egyptian Competition Authority for contravening rules regarding contracts for some Caf competitions. But in a statement on Thursday, Caf says the Authority’s letter did not mention “any prosecution against the president of CAF, whether for acts of corruption or something else”. The Nigerian army says that one of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls has been found, along with her six-month-old baby. She was discovered by soldiers investigating suspected members of Islamist militant group Boko Haram. Nigeria’s military said the young woman is undergoing medical checks. A total of 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram from the town of Chibok in April 2014. About 200 of them are still in captivity. An unidentified woman made a scene Thursday morning on live TV when she hugged and prevented Ghana’s president, John Dramani Mahama, from entering his vehicle after delivering his last State of the Nation Address. The Ghana Police Service says some major roads in the Accra metropolis would be closed to traffic for the inauguration of president-elect Nana Akufo Addo on Saturday January 7, 2016 from 4am. The Electricity Company of Ghana has initiated measures in the Ashanti Region to retrieve more than GHC3 million owed it by individuals and institutions in the region.
