An Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced two persons to 35 years imprisonment each for kidnapping and robbing a trader at Amrahia in the Greater Accra Region. Richmond Kluttey, 26, and Samuel Olise, 27, aka Junior, were found guilty on the charges of conspiracy to kidnap and rob, kidnapping and robbery at the end of the trial. Kluttey and Olise are said to have demanded GHS6,000 as ransom before releasing the victim. A 54-year-old labourer accused of defiling a minor over 21 times at Adamborobe in the Greater Accra Region has appeared before an Adentan Circuit Court. Philip Jumpa, who is being held for defiling an 11-year-old pupil, has denied the charge of defilement.The court presided over by Mrs Sedinam Awo Balokah has admitted him to bail in the sum of GHC200,000 with three sureties. Nana Meebo, chief of Borae Ahenfie, and two persons have been allegedly shot dead by unknown assailants at Borae Ahenfie, a farming Community, in the Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti Region. Some 14 people have been arrested in the connection with the shooting incident and are assisting the Police in their investigations. The Team of Hope, a community-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) at Sandema, has appealed to individuals, philanthropists and organisations for support to perform its annual free surgical operations for the poor in the Builsa area, Upper East Region. Emeritus Professor Ivan Addae-Mensah, a Former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, has called for a review of the Free Senior High School Programme, saying the current financing regime is not sustainable. The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) says about 1.1 million males, 15 years and older, employed in the first quarter of the year, were either unemployed (429,607) or out of the labour force (716,030) in the second quarter. In percentage terms, the Service said 9.4 per cent of employed males in the first quarter were unemployed in the second quarter with an additional 15.7 per cent outside of the labour force. The statistics, the GSS said, were generated from the 2022 Annual Household Income and Expenditure Survey (AHIES) to mark International Men’s Day, commemorated under the theme: “Helping Men and Boys”.…
